Renewable System Planner & Calculator

Estimate solar panels, physical array size, battery storage, inverter capacity and a preliminary project budget for homes, offices, farms and community projects.

☀ Solar PV

Panel count, rated capacity and approximate roof/ground area.

🔋 Battery storage

Nominal storage and battery quantity estimate.

⚡ Inverter sizing

Continuous load and surge target.

💧 Micro-hydro

Screen theoretical power from head and flow.

1. Project and system assumptions

Templates provide illustrative starting loads; replace them with a measured appliance inventory.

2. Appliance-by-appliance load assessment

Add appliances, quantity, watts per appliance and hours used daily. Daily energy is calculated as quantity × watts × hours ÷ 1,000. Use realistic average operating hours, not only nameplate power.

3. Electrical design and component configuration

Enter values from the actual equipment datasheets. String and controller results are screening estimates; cold-weather voltage, MPPT range and current limits must be verified.

4. Project record and renewable-resource screening

Project records are saved in this browser only unless you export a report. Wind output is a simple capacity-factor screening estimate, not a turbine performance prediction.

5. Budget inputs and component catalogue (editable)

Use this editable planning catalogue to add indicative procurement allowances. Replace every default with supplier quotations and compatible equipment data before purchasing.

Your preliminary estimate

Calculate the system to see panel quantity, physical array size, battery bank and estimated budget.

Engineering notice: Results are preliminary planning estimates, not a certified design. PV string sizing uses entered module voltages and a simplified 20% Voc cold-weather allowance; this is not a substitute for the module temperature coefficient and local minimum design temperature. Cable area is a voltage-drop estimate only and does not certify current-carrying capacity; Panel dimensions and quantities are approximate; roof setbacks, spacing, orientation, shading and access paths affect actual usable area. A qualified professional must verify load profiles, local solar resource, battery chemistry, string voltage/current limits, cable sizing, protection, earthing, structural loads, grid rules and equipment specifications before procurement or installation. Hydro output is theoretical screening and excludes detailed seasonal-flow and penstock-loss analysis.
